Chief Revenue Officer
"I love being surrounded by passionate, talented people who share a common set of values. We’re having a lot of fun building this company. Each day I’m learning something new and it’s so exciting to be a part of this new wave of technology evolution."
Dave was born in Guelph, Ontario and raised in Whitby, Ontario. He currently lives in Toronto, which he has called home for over 20 years.
Dave loves sports, in particular hockey, baseball, golf, squash, and tennis, and is an avid reader.
When he’s not fishing, spending time with his wife, or coaching his children in sports, he enjoys diving into a non-fiction book about business leadership, or personal growth and development.
What are you passionate about?
My first passion is my family. I love spending time with my wife, Janet, and our three kids, Finlay, Henry, and Angus (and Wyatt the lab). I love coaching all three of my children in sports (baseball, soccer, and hockey).
I’m also passionate about all forms of fishing (especially fly fishing). One of the reasons I love fishing so much is because I have always been fascinated with the water and I think fish are incredible creatures.
What is something interesting about you?
I used to be a camp director and elementary school teacher. I’m currently working on a rock opera as well as a book about fishing and the deeper meaning of life.
What is something on your bucket list?
Fly fishing trip to Patagonia, Argentina.
How did you get to where you are in your career?
I followed my passions. I have never been afraid of changing course in my career and trusted my gut instincts. I have also had many great mentors who have help me tremendously. I was very lucky to work for some of the “best places to work” companies in my career, including Colgate Palmolive, IBM, SAS, and Onica.
What advice would you give your younger self?
The advice I would give my younger self would be:
- Take more risks in my teenage years and early 20s
- Spend a lot more time doing the things I love to do
- Have the courage to truly understand what’s important to me and what I value at a much younger age
Why is data important to you?
I love solving problems and using data as part of that problem-solving toolkit. I really enjoy analyzing and working with data to find patterns and trends that are not obvious or apparent.
What do you love about working for Infostrux?
I love being surrounded by passionate, talented people who share a common set of values. We’re having a lot of fun building this company. Each day I’m learning something new and it’s so exciting to be a part of this new wave of technology evolution.
What is your favourite quote and why?
“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of those rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.”
– Norman Maclean
The reason this is one of my favourite quotes is because Norman Maclean does a wonderful job of capturing how I see the mystical connection between nature and human beings.
